New York as a reference to Warsaw – the idea is not so imaginary after all. When I see Fabryka Trzciny at Otwocka Street, my thoughts fly to New York. A place so fantastic; once they called it a community center …
Tadeusz Sobolewski, Gazeta Wyborcza
The Center is an island of culture on the old proletariat district. Imminent Is it’s comparison with New York’s Soho, where art galleries and places where artists lived sprouted in the 70s. Maybe, the same will happen with the Old Praga. The old PPG was first, with the Meat Processing Plant No. 1 being second in this metamorphosis.
Jerzy S. Majewski, Architektura
… When viewing Warsaw, its Fabryka Trzciny is certainly the most important thing.
Until it was opened, Praga was associated solely with its bazaar at the Dziesięciolecie Stadium, bandits and alcohol. Opening of the Fabryka Trzciny was a pivoting point – once it started to operate, the entire district has changed unbelievably. Fabryka Trzciny itself hosts a theatrical stage, club room, exhibition/conference center, gallery, restaurant and three bars. The factory is a true center of culture. Surely, had it not been opened, Krystian Legierski would not had opened his M25, and Juvenes would not have braved to restore the Koneser Vodka Factory.”
